“I took this photo while driving south on Robertson near Burton Way.  As I was making my right onto Robertson from a side street one block north of Wilshire, this lady  in the Porsche SUV cut me off as she made a left turn from the same street, but on the opposite side.  I had the right of way, and there was absolutely no traffic, meaning she could have waited to make her turn and still made it to where she was going on time.  To add insult to injury, she just had a smug “I can do whatever I want” entitled look on her face as she did it, which really irked me.”

Of course, in this town where people are obsessed with superficial social status, you find selfish, arrogant assholes like this lady driving a Porsche.  I can’t be completely certain, but it seems like she’s driving the Porsche Cayenne base model, which is essentially the “cheapest” Porsche you can buy.  Talk about trying to cut corners….hey, bitch, if you want to be self-obsessed, why not go all out and break the bank with the Panamera Turbo?

Here’s the kicker, though: I hate it when aggressive assholes behind you see you signal when you make a lane change to avoid a hazard or traffic congestion and then change lanes without signaling while they’re still behind you, using this instance as an opportunity to pass. Let’s call this leapfrogging from now on, shall we?  I’m sorry, but when did a lane change signal become a green light for dicks behind you to “beat you to the punch”, so to speak? In this particular scenario, the white Honda in the foreground saw traffic congestion in the #1 lane as we were approaching Burton Way and signaled to make a lane change to his right. The driver of the Prius saw this and then proceeded to make a shotgun lane change to his/her right, without signaling of course, slammed on the accelerator, and then had the gall to honk at the signaling white Honda, as if he/she had the right-of-way. The white Honda naturally honked back in protest.

I am putting this out there, fellow commuters. If I ever see something like this result in a collision, have solace in the fact that I will actually stop and provide my information to you as a witness to testify against the other driver’s donkey-fuc*king behavior. I have no tolerance for this type of arrogance–conceit of this degree has no place behind the wheel.

Anyway, to make this post United Nations friendly, it’s only fair that I mention the Caucasian, early 30′s, female driver of this Jeep who also made a driving faux pas on Little Santa Monica (though granted, not as serious).  I first noticed her vehicle when Burton Way merges with S. Santa Monica (aka Little Santa Monica) and saw that she was drifting in and out of lanes without signaling or even a slight glance at her mirrors or a turn of her head.  Anyway, there’s this slight bend in the road on Santa Monica just after Canon (I believe) when you’re going west to allow room for parked cars along the curb.  Unfortunately, the #1 lane of traffic also becomes a left turn lane about 100 feet later.  So in order to avoid waiting behind cars making left turns, many cars going straight change into the #2 lane.  However, this being Los Angeles (and egocentric Beverly Hills to boot), this lady did exactly what many drivers here do: she drove her vehicle directly into my lane (which essentially meant that she kept her steering wheel straight and ignored the bend in the road), didn’t signal for the turn, didn’t check her mirrors or her blind spot, and nearly clipped the front left end of my vehicle.  In fact, there would have been a collision if I had not been quick enough to hit my brakes.  And you know what?  Dumb sh*t like that deserves a honk, so I let her have it.  Did she learn her lesson?  Of course not.  She eventually made a left off the road a couple of blocks later…all the while refusing to signal.  Stubborn and stupid…what an attractive combination.
