Sometime last year, the city screwed with the lanes on Wilshire Blvd. by Sepulveda and the 405 Fwy on/off-ramps in Brentwood. Previously, if you were going east toward the freeway in the #1 lane, you had the option of either going straight or making a left to go north on Sepulveda. A green arrow helped to facilitate this turn. Now, in a feeble and naive attempt to reduce traffic congestion, they made the #1 lane a left turn only lane–you see the sign and the fat dotted white lane markings about two hundred yards before the Wilshire/Sepulveda intersection. Let’s be real…this is L.A. Late afternoon/evening rush hour commuters quickly learned that the #1 lane moved faster than all the other eastbound lanes on Wilshire and use it to pass as many cars as possible before changing lanes to their right. Essentially, a mind-numbing bottleneck was created, making traffic even worse in this area. Way to go, councilmembers. Anyway, as annoying as this is for a lot of the other drivers who patiently wait in the #2 lane to go east on Wilshire past the 405, it’s not illegal…unless you pull a selfish, asinine stunt like the punk in this crappy Chevy HHR (license plate 6JPT). Both he and the driver in front of him (not photographed) didn’t switch over from the #1 lane to the #2 lane earlier like most other drivers. In fact, by the time he reached the Sepulveda intersection, he was still in the left turn only lane. This arrogant piece of dessicated gonad then drove his Moby Dick of a vehicle forward, crossed Sepulveda, and ignored yellow hatched lines (that represent a raised concrete median) in front of him before continuing east on Wilshire. Clearly, passing about 100 cars wasn’t good enough for this fu*kwad, and he felt completely entitled to pull a blatantly egocentric and illegal maneuver. If the city really needs to raise some extra cash, they should park some traffic cops by this intersection on a random evening commute. It’ll be like shooting ducks in a barrel.

Well, this is just great. Another aggressive, impatient, arrogant piece of rat sh*t on our roads in a brand new, unplated pickup truck. I was driving home from picking up my son at daycare during evening rush hour. We were on Burbank Blvd. going west, where the street frequently varies from one to two westbound lanes. Frustrating? Yes, and Magnolia (the next major thoroughfare south) is the same way. Chalk it up to poor city planning, if you will. Regardless, given that it was rush hour, you pretty much just had to suck it up and deal with the stop and go traffic. Then again, this leapfrogging asshole felt like using his new gas-guzzling toy as a wedge to cut between other drivers whenever he had the chance. In this particular scenario, this guy refused to merge safely behind other cars when Burbank was narrowing into one westbound lane, ignoring clear signs and lane markings. When a driver next to him was going to let him in, this egocentric asswipe then felt entitled to leapfrog over a few more cars and drove forward instead of falling in line, this time ignoring a right turn only lane. By the time this photo was taken, we had a single westbound lane and a curb lane for parked vehicles. Pencil dick then had no choice but to jam his car in between two other vehicles. He made a right at the next major thoroughfare (Whitsett, I think), at which time all the other drivers he “successfully” leapfrogged over caught up with him by the time he executed his turn. Soooo….again I ask, what’s the frackin’ point for driving like cracked out prick?

So here is a rare instance where we’ve actually built up some data on a particular driver who is routinely violating parking regulations by our favorite red hydrant in Santa Clarita by Jakes Way and Eleanor Circle. As our submitter in the area reports, some people never learn as the lady who owns this dark green Ford Explorer still feels complete entitled to block in other drivers while obstructing a fire hydrant, despite having been confronted by a resident in the area and despite having received multiple citations from law enforcement. In one reported occasion, the officer spoke to the lady directly and hand-delivered the parking ticket. Yet, here she is again, the arrogant, inconsiderate twat bag. I suppose the silver lining is that she’s personally funding the repairs of potholes in the area, I suppose…that is if she’s even paying her fines.

This was taken a few days ago during Monday’s heavy rain. The old native guy driving this Toyota Avalon (license plate 4VDS) was by no means the only one driving on the roads without his head and taillights on, but there you have it. This was on Burbank Blvd. Never mind the fact that the windshield wiper/headlights law has been in effect for years, but common sense alone should dictate that you want to make your vehicle more visible to others in such inclement weather conditions. Then again, common sense is something many people in L.A. seem to lack.

Here’s a submission without a story from an anonymous firefighter:

“I am a firefighter for a major fire department here in California, and on a daily basis I have to shake my head and bite my tounge. And if we could take pictures of some of these mouth breathers I would have a book . While we’re responding to emergencies, pull to the right and stop people–it’s not that hard. People have no clue or do not care.

We have had people race us, stop, and freeze up. Pass us while we are responding (lights and siren blasting) turn in front of us and act like they don’t see us 20 feet off their bumper. And the only time they will pull over and stop is if they see a police officer. We have had people drive behind us across the driveway across the grass as we back into the station–all to get to a red light. More times than I can count. We had one ASSHOLE go into oncoming traffic with a cop right next to him. Yes, he got a ticket.

We had one lady ( I use that term loosely ) follow us to a rescue and scream and threaten us. Did I mention she refused to pull over for over a mile? And when we finally got around her at a red light, she then followed us to the rescue. A local police officer arrived on scene and wrote her a huge ticket (one for the good guys) . We have had people flip us off and yell because we’re blocking a lane at the scene of a traffic collision. How about driving and parking on the driveway of the station to ask for directions as we’re pulling out to go on a response and saying it will only take a second?

And some of the excuses: 1) I didn’t see you. 2) Thats not how we do it in my country (pick a 3rd world country). 3) I was in a hurry. 4) You’re not a cop. 5) Could not hear you over radio/phone/kids.

I wish we had a cop follow us on every run so they could make a fortune and maybe revoke a few driver’s licenses.”

I found all these stories fascinating to read, and not in a good way. I have personally seen drivers completely ignore the sirens and lights of oncoming emergency first vehicles, but the kind of arrogant, egocentric, clueless aggression detailed above was certainly news to me. First responders always have the right-of-way. And yes, even if they’re coming from the opposite direction, you still must pull over to the side of the road until the vehicles passes. And if pulling over to the side isn’t a feasible option, at least come to a friggen stop.

Tailgating Double-Yellow-Crossing Dad in F-150

Here’s a jackass of a father who’s setting a wonderful example for the kids in the back of his Ford F-150 (license plate 7W25). We were traveling on the 91 Fwy West around Long Beach when we saw this mustached fool hopping back and forth over the double yellow lines bordering the carpool lane. Is this guy that much of an idiot not to know what double yellow lines mean? Just because traffic is going in the same direction doesn’t mean that you’re allowed to cross double yellow lines bordering the carpool lane. Drivers in the #1 lane or in the carpool lane don’t expect drivers to cut in front of them in these instances, although so many people violate this law in L.A. that I’m always attentive whenever I’m driving in either lane. Anyway, my guess is this guy was just a selfish, arrogant prick because he proceeded to tailgate other drivers on the road (as you see here) when the freeway was essentially empty.

We took this photo during the holidays last week. This road raging asshole was so obsessed with asserting his perceived dominance on the road in this dinky MINI Cooper that he nearly missed his exit. Alternately, there is a very real possibility that he knew exactly what he was doing but just wanted to treat each encounter with a random driver as an opportunity to overcompensate for the fact that he was born with clitoris-sized dick. Allow me to explain: we were traveling on the 134 Fwy going westbound in Glendale. We were signaling our way to the left to merge into the carpool lane while the lane was still bordered by dotted white lines instead of double yellows. As we approached the #1 lane on the freeway, I checked both my mirrors and my blind spot and saw that there was plenty of clearance. As I eased my way to the left, this fu*khead gunned it in an asinine attempt to block “his” lane. I quickly corrected to avoid a collision as he threatened to sideswipe my car. He then had the audacity to flip us the finger as if we did something wrong by signaling and easing our vehicle across the freeway. This crackpot then proceeded to bumper hump the driver in from of him before yanking his wheel to the right to California Cut (without signaling) towards an exit. Talk about short-sighted, senseless aggression. The toolbag was about to exit, yet he had to use the few hundred feet he had left on the freeway to laneblock and lick the asshole of another car. Empty roads…plenty of space to do his thang. Whatever…maybe he had no friends or family to celebrate Thanksgiving with. That wouldn’t be surprising.

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen what’s going on with our favorite little red hydrant up by Jakes Way and Eleanor Circle in Santa Clarita. Have drivers up there finally learned their lesson? I think not. Here’s what our submitter reported:

“Nothing like blocking in the car again…(Exhibit A). And look who just showed up! (Exhibit B).”

I refuse to believe this many people who need to park near this particular hydrant have no idea about the illegality of parking right next to or near a fire hydrant. Rather, I find it easier to believe that this many people really are selfish, lazy, or don’t care about this law and just park wherever the hell they feel like it, even if it means obstructing a hydrant and simultaneously blocking in another driver against the curb. They probably drive like arrogant pricks, too. At least the driver of this shizzy sedan got his/her comeuppance.
