Comments on: Frontier Forcing a Path Across Highland

Los Angeles drivers can't drive. Plain and simple. Basic traffic laws and driving etiquette clearly do not apply in a town where the people seem to operate in their own little bubble, completely unaware or dismissive of others on the road. Call it what you will: self-entitlement, negligence, malaise, ignorance. My goal? To have mandatory driving tests randomly issued where drivers are eligible for selection after 6 years. Consider this jury duty for the road.

In this particular scenario, he could've gone one block north or south before trying to cut over a busy intersection unregulated by traffic signals...it would've been both safer and faster. I'm the school of thought of never forcing a non-existent right-of-way. If people wave you over, that's one thing. But no one is going to stop in the middle of Highland, wait for cars in the other 2 lanes to do the same thing, and wait for you to cross--and that's just for one direction of travel during rush hour. We all need to live with poor road layouts and should do our best to adapt, not add to the problem (and in this case, congestion).

I'm iffy on this... as a native Angeleno who has tried to navigate across a busy boulevard intersection, sometimes you have to be pro-active as no one will ever give you courtesy stop.
