Comments on: Clueless Group on Bikes Crowds Lanes and Ignores Drivers

Los Angeles drivers can't drive. Plain and simple. Basic traffic laws and driving etiquette clearly do not apply in a town where the people seem to operate in their own little bubble, completely unaware or dismissive of others on the road. Call it what you will: self-entitlement, negligence, malaise, ignorance. My goal? To have mandatory driving tests randomly issued where drivers are eligible for selection after 6 years. Consider this jury duty for the road.

It's not an honor to have your car posted on this website. That is why I leave early and drive safe. I don't want to see my 2008 Saturn Astra XR, nor my 1988 Honda Accord Hatchback, nor my 1975 Chevrolet Nova, nor my 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle spread out on this website. I keep 'em in one piece!

Lorri, good to hear about your problem-free ride! Truth be told, I would trade this blog for safe streets any day :).

I got stuck behind this same group one day on Glenoaks. They were riding double, cruising like five mph in a 40-mph zone with traffic backed up behind them. I hollered at them to ride single-file, and when I came back the other way they were indeed riding single file. I dunno, maybe they were more clueless than deliberately obnoxious, but damn, anyone who's made it to adulthood should have enough intelligence to figure out some minimal courtesy on the road. Of course, anyone driving in L.A. knows that's not the case...

On the other hand, I do have a positive trip to report! A few days ago I drove from the Burbank area to the Miracle Mile and back, a 90-minute drive, and did not observe one single extreme incident of rudeness or idiocy either from drivers or bike riders. Maybe it was an encounter with a miracle while passing through the Miracle Mile? Or maybe there are people who would rather not have their vehicles appear on this blog?! ;D

It's even more annoying when law enforcement does that shit. Take my CHP example above, they were literally sprawled out on all lanes blocking traffic.

For what it's worth, here's the non emergency number to the Burbank Police Dept. I've found them responsive. I think it would be worth a call the next time someone spots a problem in Burbank.

I think those guys are a part of the Midnite Ridaz. They are a group of cyclists that ride around at night and sometimes do childish things in different parts of the city.
