No Brains in this U-Haul

Idiocy Meter

Asshole Meter

First off, I want to say that en route to my in-laws’ house, we saw an impatient, egocentric jackass in a light brown sedan pulling out of a strip mall parking lot by Riverside, Camarillo, and Tujunga (by Jack’s Hamburgers and the 7-11) to make a left onto Riverside. Instead of waiting for traffic to clear, this fu*kwad made a left into oncoming traffic, jammed the accelerator, and traveled a good 200 feet before crossing to the right side of the road. This is the 5th time I can remember seeing something like this happen in the last 3 years. Traffic wasn’t even heavy…this guy honestly couldn’t wait? Or how about making a right out of the parking lot and then going around the block? Way too inconvenient for this piece of sh*t.
This post, though not nearly as reckless, is another example of typical, oblivious L.A. driving behavior that I find so frustrating. Growing up in the New York metro area has conditioned me to be aware of my surroundings at all times. This doesn’t mean I’m constantly on edge, nor am I a friggen ninja. Rather, I just happen to notice if there’s someone behind me, cars in my blind spots, opening the door for strangers, etc. This clueless twit in a U-Haul was traveling on the 101-S in the #1 lane, holding up cars in medium traffic. First of all, why the hell are you driving a U-Haul in the fastest lane of traffic? Just because you can, it doesn’t mean you should, especially since you can’t see behind you and common sense should tell you that there are cars that simply travel faster than your beaten up rental. Secondly, how do you not get a clue from all the cars passing you on your right and cutting in front of you? Lastly, if every single car in front of you ends up way off into the wild blue yonder, maybe you’re not keeping up with traffic and should move over to your right. Eventually, I saw the U-Haul finally (without signaling of course) change lanes to its right. But right when I thought this driver finally got the message, I noticed that we were right by the 101/134 Fwy interchange. The driver simply wanted to continue on the 101, at which point we saw him continue south–still in the #1 fast lane. Clueless behavior like this doesn’t help to curb the road rage in this town.

I hate seeing those Uhaul trucks on the roads! Not only are they unsafe trucks, most of the time, they are driven by unsafe drivers. There is no way that those trucks should be in the fast lane! I wish everyone would just adopt the idea of using those moving pods like from Door to Door ( http://www.doortodoor.com ). They are easier to use, and prevent knucklehead drivers from driving in the fast lane!
