Some Curbs Attract Bad Parkers

This particular “curb of arrogance” near a friend’s place in Burbank on Kling St. consistently attracts parking violators like the Mitsubishi Eclipse in this photo.  First of all, the curb is painted red up until the posted parking sign, and according to my buddy, the curb used to be red a bit farther past the sign until it was repainted recently.  I’ve never seen the same car in this spot whenever I walk by, but without fail you have some apathetic asshole parking by the red curb while simultaneously obstructing the driveway.  This guy was sticking out about two feet past the end of the drape, though it’s hard to see at this angle.  That isn’t even so bad–on occasion I’ve seen people sticking out a good 3 feet in front of the driveway with a truck or SUV.  Parking in Burbank isn’t exactly scarce, people.  On this street, sometimes it requires you to walk a block to your car if you have to park around the corner.  Oh no!  A block!  A 2 minute walk!  I mean, seriously, all this crap coming from the yoga mat-toting, self-professed health conscious denizens of L.A.?  Bloody hypocrites….  With this town’s aversion to walking and desire to drive as much as possible, I’m surprised we don’t have more people with sciatica problems.

  1. There is an uber-cluless who has had their car parked on Hayvenhurst Avenue in Van Nuys for the past 4 days with the front end jutting out into the traffic lane. Asswipe made no attempt to park close to the curb or to remove the front of his/her douchemobile out of traffic. They will, of course, be the first ones upset when their piece of shit gets hit. Then they will care.

  3. But what can one do about these jerkwads? Is there a number for Parking Enforcement to report driveway encroachers? I ask because it happens at my condo on Burbank Bl. in Sherman Oaks all the time — same damn white Nissan, too.

  4. RK, I don’t know if this applies to your area, but you can call (818) 752-5100 for Valley City Parking Enforcement. I got the info from the Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association. At the very least, I’m sure they can direct you to someone who can take care of this matter for you.

  5. I actually see a RED CURB painted next to this Mitsubishi, so that just means that the Burbank cops are not on top of the parking enforcement.

What concerns me most about this kind of arrogant, douchebag parking is that the people that are backing out of this driveway are having their vision impaired by these cars. That is the whole intent of giving them some room to see on-coming cars.

I’m sure if the homeowner that owns this driveway were to call the City parking enforcement, there would be some action. I think a TOW is in order!

  6. Hey Jackass, sometimes it’s hard to find a god damn parking spot in the greater LA area. Especially when you need those extra wide driveways with all kinds of space on both sides because some idiot 30 years ago on the city council got the laws written that way when his wife bitched at him.

What the hell is the problem here?

  7. Thank you, Lorf, for proving my point of why sharing the road with egocentric, self-serving minds like yourself sucks in L.A. The point is it’s the law, and you don’t have the liberty to change that or choose which ones to obey. If you don’t like it, then I suggest moving to a third world country where people take the laws into their own hands, and let’s see how comfy you find your lifestyle then. Red curb and obstruction of driveway…if a cop wanted to be a dick, that’s at least two separate citations right there.
