I hope you all had a nice July 4th weekend.  We actually went to an engagement party for some dear friends of ours (congrats again, Erin and Dave!), so the fireworks were a nice touch midway through the evening.  Driving home, however, was not so fun.  We knew there would be a lot of drunk drivers on the streets, but we had no idea that there would be so many.  Drivers were weaving in their lanes, erratically tailgating and cutting drivers off, missing exits and driving over freeway medians, etc.  We reported one girl driving a white Mitsubishi SUV to 911 for nearly driving off the freeway and blindly cutting off other drivers.  She was a collision waiting to happen.  Then on the other end of the spectrum, you had drivers who were stoned, traveling 45 mph in the slowest lane on the freeway, breaking hard whenever another car changed lanes in front of them closer than 100 feet.  Give an ignoramus a few shots, a bong, and car keys, and he becomes a ticking time bomb.

Anyway, this photo of a white Chevy Tahoe is unrelated to this weekend’s DUI escapades.  It was take a few days ago and was just a classic case of L.A. drivers completely ignoring the double yellow lines on the freeway that border the carpool lane.  Whether or not you think those lines make sense is irrelevant.  They’re there, and by default normal drivers don’t expect cars to be jumping back and forth in front of them across those lines, which is exactly what this jackass did on the 210 Fwy East when the #1 lane on the freeway started slowing down near Hill Ave.  Instead of waiting a couple hundred feet for the dotted white line break bordering the carpool lane, this aggressive moron took matters in his own hands and swerved over to his left directly in front of us, forcing us to slam our brakes to avoid the collision.  Ignoring the double yellow lines is one thing, but doing so while not checking for adjacent traffic takes it to a whole new level of stupidity.
