I doubt that this is a real sign, but it was certainly appropriate to accompany the following submission:

“OK, here we go again!  Here is something that is near and dear to my heart, and I get really bent out of shape when I see this.

On Friday 11/28, some jackass with a blue Ford Expedition, Chrome dubs, license plate 4M*****, pulls up in front of SCV Cleaners @ 26539 Golden Valley Road, in Santa Clarita, and proceeds to open all of his doors.  I’m sitting in my car, having a yogurt just watching this guy.  This guy was big, burly, and obviously not handicapped, nor did he have the placard hanging in his car.  Of all days, I wish I had my digital camera with me to shoot this momentous idiot act as he went into the cleaners and proceeded to walk out with both arms full of dry cleaning on hangers and load it into his awaiting SUV.

When I was ready to leave, I pulled up in back of him and said, “You are an inconsiderate asshole for parking in that space!”  ( I think he owns this dry cleaners).  He had the deer in the headlights look of shock because someone called him on it!  He said, “I’ll move it.”  I said, “No, it’s too late!  You are already an inconsiderate asshole and there is a website (handicappedfraud.org) that will memorialize you for it!”   Then I drove off.

I am so sick and tired of these inconsiderate morons that park in handicapped spaces for their own selfish reasons!  The cops in this town are spread so thin that nothing is ever done about it.  You can go days without seeing a LA County Sheriff in this town!”

Whether it be ignoring handicapped parking signs, ignoring lane/turn markings, failing to stop at stop signs, pointless speeding and street racing, etc.–people in this town tend to drive in whatever manner that suits them, regardless of the law and at the expense of the safety of others.  This malaise is often reinforced by the lack of proper enforcement.  Hell, in today’s rain, I saw traffic cops in two different parts of town completely ignore drivers driving around without headlights on.  Forget about the fact that it was raining and their wipers were on–it was DARK, and people weren’t being cited for following basic Driving 101 policies.  One car blatantly ran a red light by trying to make his “L.A. left turn on yellow” (ie. squeeze his car through the intersection before the light turns green for perpendicular traffic) directly in front of a police car.  Nothing happened.  Apparently, L.A. has an unspoken rule to allow one car making a left turn to run a red light, much like how jaywalking is the unspoken rule in NYC.  Then again, you’re dealing with a 4000 lb. object versus a 185 lb. individual.  And people wonder why the driving in this town just keeps getting worse–and no, you can’t just blame all of this on congestion.
