Do you want to know a big reason why there are so many bad drivers in L.A.?  Many law enforcement personnel drive the same way and often fail to enforce infractions that happen right in front of their eyes.  Lack of manpower is one thing.  Tending to a more serious emergency is another.  But if you’re just coasting along and an infraction happens right in front of your face, there’s just no excuse to exercise your civic duty.  Sure, not every cop is a traffic cop, and in some instances the officer may be off the clock.  Whatever.  I refuse to believe that all or a combination of these factors are in play every single time I’ve seen traffic cops not pulling over drivers for tailgating, unsafe lane changes, traffic sign violations, failure to signal, etc.  In this photo that was taken on Cahuenga, we have a cop tailgating and speeding behind a Honda SUV that was tailgating and speeding behind a sedan in front of it.  All we needed was another L.A. moron to tailgate the cop to get a conga line of idiocy.  Oh wait…in L.A., we call that being “chill” or “laid back”, right?  Way to go, officer, in both setting a good example and enforcing the law.
