I came across this super-senior driving his senile-looking wife (there was nothing registering in her eyes) around in his Toyota Solara on Little Santa Monica a few weeks ago. Call it profiling if you want, but I become much more wary of any vehicle sporting a handicap license plate or placard with a septuagenarian (or older) behind the wheel. Honestly, this guy was driving around as if here were as incapacitated as his wife as he was drifting aimlessly between the 2 narrow westbound lanes of traffic without signaling. He even crossed the double yellow centerline a few times in a matter of a few blocks. In fact, grandpa never turned his head a fraction of a degree to any side while he was randomly switching lanes all along my commute to work. I’m sorry, but at what age did he suddenly feel that it was unnecessary to check his mirrors and blind spots? Apparently, he places the onus of defensive driving onto others like myself, trusting that we’ll honk when he’s about to sideswipe our vehicles.  And even while he kept his attention directly in front of him, he kept creeping at red lights….listen, old man: getting a “head start” when the light turns green is the least of your problems.  Here’s another case of someone who desperately needs his driver’s license revoked.
