OK, seriously, where did this person learn how to drive?  I’m not kidding….there are so many people here who honestly do not have a clue about basic rules like stopping, right-of-way, etc.  You would think having common sense or at least a semi-evolved brain would be a prerequisite for getting a driver’s license in Los Angeles.  Yeah, yeah, I get it–the state issues the driver’s license.  Maybe there just needs to be greater scrutiny of those who actually navigate the streets in this county.  Just the other day, I was in the car with my boss who, like me, happens to be Asian; however, unlike me, she’s a horrible driver–and she admits it.  She’s a very nice person, but for some reason, she drives as if everyone’s out to get her, so she might as well “strike first” while behind the wheel.  This is analogous to those who don’t signal for lane changes because they fear that the person in the adjacent lane will speed up instead of allowing them to move in front.  As a side note, this happened to me a couple of days ago, and the guy waved his hand in exasperation, before violently switching lanes and tailgating the car in front of him while playing his futile game of leapfrog.  Anyway, my boss and I were en route to a lunch meeting when she ran through a stop sign and made a left in front of a car that had the right-of-way on all counts (stopped first and was going straight).  I was like, “You know, boss, you just ran a stop sign and almost caused an accident.”  She laughed a bit and said, “Yeah, well, we’re in a hurry.”  Though she knew she was wrong, she didn’t think what she did was all that bad.

The lady driving this SUV wasn’t so nonchalant; in fact, she was absolutely adamant that her business took precedence over everything else, including traffic regulations.  She made a right turn off of Doheny onto Burton Way without coming to a complete stop for her red light and nearly collided with a car on Burton that clearly had the right-of-way.  Not only did this crazy b*tch barely slow down for her right on red, but she honked her horn in protest.  This person needs a refresher course on traffic rules, though my guess is that she probably has some deeper psychological issues associated with a strong sense of low self-worth.  Or maybe I’m making this just a tad too complicated.  Perhaps what this town lacks is a sense of consideration, respect, humility, and compromise.  Whether you’re dealing with someone like my boss or this whore in this (Lexus?) SUV, one can’t help but wonder if you’re dealing with a likely repeat offender.
